Passages Northwest inspires courage and leadership in girls through the arts and the natural environment. Our year-round programs for girls, their families, schools, and organizations emphasize the exploration and development of three types of courage:

  • Physical courage is developed by trying something new and challenging, whether climbing a rock wall or learning to camp outside for the first time.
  • Expressive courage is cultivated through creating art, writing poetry or journaling, or saying something that is hard to say.
  • Inquisitive courage is developed by asking questions and being curious about the human and natural world.

We are committed to bringing together and serving girls of diverse race, ethnicity, socioeconomic background, religion, family make-up, and sexual orientation. In 2008, 51% of our participants were girls of color, and 68% received full or partial tuition assistance.
